How to use Alvas Assets

How to use Alvas Assets

Step 1 - Upload assets

Upload the images you want Alvas to be able to choose from. You can either enter in an image URL, or select files from your local computer.

The images you upload will be your image bank.

Go to Assets inside the Alvas Platform.

Guide image

Click Upload.

Guide image

You can select a file, or use an Image URL. For this example, I'm using an Image URL.

Click Upload to upload the file.

Guide image

Alvas will use AI to understand what's inside the image, and create a description of the image.

Guide image

You should upload an image for all the different product categories you have.

For this guide, I've uploaded 3 assets, one for shoes, one for women's clothes and one for men's clothes.

Step 2 - Select assets for an email

For each email you have, you need to choose the assets Alvas can use in that email.

You do so by heading to Emails.

Guide image

Select the email, where you want to add the category images.

Guide image

Go to the Assets tab inside the email.

Guide image

Click the "Add" button.

Guide image

Select which images you will let Alvas choose between when generating a new email.

Clicking an image will select it.

Guide image

Remember to save the email when you've selected the assets.

Step 3 - Add the mergetag in your template

To display the dynamic image, you will need to copy and paste the mergetag into your email template.

Turn on integration mode.

Guide image

Add a fallback asset.

This should be a default branded image, in case Alvas doesn't find any of the assets relevant.

Guide image

For example, for Nike I would use a standard Nike logo banner.

Guide image

Then you can copy the mergetag by clicking on it.

Guide image

Go to your email template.

Drag in an image block

Then click select an image.

Guide image

Click on the Dynamic Image tab.

Guide image

Paste in the mergetag you copied from Alvas.

Step 4 - Preview the images

For this last step, I would recommend watching our video, it shows how to do this step way better.

Simply put, you should preview the template as a person that you've just generated an email for.

Guide image

When you do that, you can see the image that Alvas selected for the specifc person.
