How to add Alvas to a journey in Blueshift

Step 1 - Create a new Campaign in Blueshift

Inside Blueshift click on Journeys -> Campaigns.

Then click the "+Campaign" button to create a new campaign.

Select "Segmented Triggered".

Give it a name and continue.

Step 2 - Add the Alvas message.

Inside the new campaign, you should go to the Journey builder.

And add a new step by clicking the "+" button below the Journey start.

Under "Messaging" select the Alvas.ai message.

When you've added the message, go to the Alvas.ai section on the right side of your screen.

Here you should click Select a template.

Then, based on the email you're setting up you should select the correct template.

Please note that you should have set up these templates in advance. This will involve you point of contact at Alvas, which will help you predefine these triggers.

A trigger will have this naming structure:

Alvas_TypeOfEmail_LanguageCode_EmailId.

An example could be:

Alvas_AbandonedBrowse_EN_9242

Which is an Abandoned Browse email written in English with the ID 9242 inside Alvas.

Select the template you need to use.

After selecting a template click "Done".

Now you've set up the trigger that tells Alvas to write an email for the specific user, based on the event they've just triggered.

It takes Alvas about 1-2 minutes to generate the texts, and once it has done that, the texts are automatically uploaded in Blueshift and stored on a profile as external properties.

Step 3 - Add a 10 minute wait

To make sure the texts are written before sending the email, you should add a 10 minute delay between the Alvas trigger and the email.

Click on the small "+" beneath the trigger.

Add a Delay.

Select "Fixed time delay".

And set it to 10 minutes.

Finally click "Done".

Step 4 - Add the email with Alvas text fields inside

Add another step below the wait.

Select the email as a message.

Guide image

Go to "Email".

Guide image

Click "Select a template".

Guide image

The name of the email template should follow the same as the Alvas template, so like this:

Alvas_TypeOfEmail_LanguageCode_EmailId.

Therefore I select the email with this name:

Alvas_AbandonedBrowse_EN_9242.

Please note that the template also has to be coordinated with your point of contact at Alvas, similar to the Alvas template.

Finally, I click Done again.

And as the last thing, save the campaign.

Step 5 - Summary

Now, anytime the flow Journey triggers, Alvas.ai will write a personalized email, and upload the texts into Blueshift as external properties.

10 minutes later, with dynamic fields that reference each text will be sent to the customer.
